At Compassion Kids, we’re creating a space where children are safe and loved, where they can learn about Jesus, interact with Scripture, and know that their questions are always welcome. Our hope is to nurture hearts that grow in wonder, compassion, and faith—helping kids discover what it means to follow Jesus.

GOD SPEAKS

Relationships can’t happen without communication, and our God is relational. He knows us and wants to be known by us. He is the God who speaks. Throughout His story, we see our Father talking to His kids. Whether in an audible voice or a gentle whisper, or through the godly advice of others, God speaks. And His words are always worth listening to. As we explore in this series the Old Testament stories of people who listened (and didn’t listen) to God’s voice, may you and your kids tune your ears to the kind voice of our loving Father.

Come near to God, and he will come near to you.  James 4:8a

  1. Share about a person you like to talk with. Why?
  2. Have you felt or heard God speaking to you? When?
  3. What do you think God sees when He looks at your heart?
  • Look at my Heart: In 1 Samuel 16, God chose David as King because God saw his heart. In Psalm 139:23–24, David writes that God knows what’s in the heart and asks God to examine His heart. Draw a picture of a heart and then pray together and ask God to examine your hearts. Read Psalm 139 and pray the words of the verse.
  • The Examen: In 1 Kings 19, Elijah hears God speaking in an unexpected way: a still, small whisper. God speaks to us too! The Examen is a practice of noticing where God is at work or speaking. Do it as a family at the end of the day: start by being still before God. Think about your day and consider the ways God may have been moving or speaking. Ask each person how God was present today. Then pray together and thank God as you listen for Him.

Inhale: God, You are …
Exhale: always near me.

A breath prayer is a word or phrase to repeat in a single breath with one part on the inhale and the other part on the exhale. Breath prayers help us focus on God and His presence with us. Try this together as a family.

Our Classrooms

Nursery-Preschool

Our youngest kids begin their morning here. This is a warm, play-based environment where little ones can explore, have fun, and start learning about God’s love in hands-on ways. Preschoolers are welcome to start here or to join their older friends and families in the gathering space for the start of worship. Kids enjoy playtime, a Bible story video, and a fun activity that reinforces what we’re learning together.

Family Sundays

On Family Sundays—every 5th Sunday of the month—our kids stay with us for the entire service. We believe it’s important for children to know that the whole church—the space, the worship, and the people—is for them and with them. These Sundays remind us that kids aren’t just the future of the church; they’re part of it right now.

To help them engage, we provide special activity bags filled with fun, hands-on ways to follow along and stay connected during the service. It’s a joyful, sometimes wiggly reminder that worship is for everyone.

Preschool & Elementary

Kids in this class start the morning in the main gathering space with the rest of the church. They’ll have a special table reserved just for them and their leaders as we sing two to three songs together as a church family. After worship, kids are dismissed to their class where they dive deeper into the week’s story through games, conversation, and creative activities designed for their age and stage of development.
